silicone textile printing inks

Sep 19, 2024

Silicone textile printing inks are a type of ink specifically developed for screen printing on textiles. They are composed of a mixture of silicone polymers and various pigments, additives, and fillers to achieve the desired printing properties.

The major advantage of silicone textile printing inks is their high elasticity and excellent adhesion to a variety of fabrics, including cotton, polyester, nylon, and blends. This makes them ideal for printing on stretchable, waterproof, or heat-sensitive fabrics such as athletic wear, swimwear, and umbrellas. Additionally, silicone inks have high resistance to abrasion, washing, and heat, which results in long-lasting prints.

The silicone textile printing inks can be classified  by its feature. If you need high density screen printing, you must print HD silicone XG-866AH,or XG-866A.The two silicone products can help you print high thickness easily, especially for high density screen printing, such as thickness 0.5mm printing design.

There are also glossy and matte silicone. They are used for last screen printing after printing color silicone ink.Glossy silicone has highly glossy and semi-glossy type. The glossy silicone is no bubbles, excellent flowability and high abrasion resistance.

If you need heat transfer screen printing, you must use silicone XG-866A-2Y,it's also called round corner silicone because it's excellent flowability and elongation. It's easy for you to print high thickness. You only print 20 times with the silicone ink to get thickness 0.5mm.

When you prepare heat transfers, you need place the heat transfer film on printing table. You must bake the transfer film for 2-3minutes and let the film flat. Then you can print amazing heat transfer logo.

To use silicone textile printing inks, the water-proof fabric first needs to be pre-treated with a special primer or coating that promotes adhesion and prevents ink migration. The ink is then applied to the fabric surface using a screen printing press or manual screen printing technique. The ink should be applied in thin, even layers with a squeegee to avoid clogging or smudging. The prints are then cured at high temperatures (between 300-400°F) through either heat transfer or oven-curing methods to achieve full bonding and durability. If it's cotton blender or normal nylon, polyester, you can print silicone ink on them without printing primer.

Silicone textile printing inks consist of a polymer base, usually a combination of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and other silicone copolymers. PDMS is a highly elastic, heat-resistant, and non-toxic material that has excellent adhesion to various surfaces, including textile fabrics. Other additives such as pigments, fillers, and thickeners are then incorporated to give the ink its desired color, texture, and printing properties.

In addition to their physical properties, silicone textile printing inks are also free from harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde, heavy metals, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This makes them a healthier and safer choice for both the environment and the workers handling them.

Overall, silicone textile printing inks offer a versatile and durable solution for printing on a wide range of fabrics and applications. With their high elasticity, resistance to wear and wash, and non-toxic nature, they are an excellent choice for many industries, including fashion, sportswear, and outdoor gear.
